To install a sink or shower drain with tiles, start by removing the old drain. Next, drill a hole in the countertop large enough to fit the drain pipe. Cut the pipe to length and fit it into the hole, then tighten the bolt on the end of the pipe. Next, take the tiles out of the box and place them on top of the pipe. Fit the remaining tiles around the pipe.

Poke several holes through the tiles with a screwdriver to allow water to flow freely. Finally, screw on the bolts to secure the tiles to the pipe. If your tub has a framed surround, you can remove the frame and use it to support the tub while you work.

Next, install the new drain with a backer board or underlayment. Make sure there are no holes in either before you proceed below the floor level. Drive screws into place through all parts of your drain pipe so that any water will flow out of the hole in your tile instead of down into your basement or crawlspace.

You’ll also want to make sure that none of this water will seep through between your pipes and the walls.Install your new sink separately, of course. Then pour a thin bead of silicone over top of the drain and plug it into the wall outlet.

If you’re installing a drain for your bathroom sink, you’ll need to install a vent pipe on the side of the basin that will connect to the outside. This vent will prevent water from pooling at the bottom of the basin when it rains.
